Eligibility Criteria for Fully-Funded Support**

The Triangle Foundation is committed to ensuring that people facing genuine hardship can access our wellbeing assessments and the two-day Mental Health Self-Defence® Programme at no cost. Fully-funded support is available for individuals who meet the criteria below.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

1. Residency

  • You must be living in the United Kingdom at the time of your application.
  • Your primary residence must be within Wales for the duration of your support.

2. Age

  • You must be 17 years or older.

3. Income or Employment Status

You must meet at least one of the conditions below:

  • You are unemployed and actively seeking work.
  • You are employed but on a low income (earning below £22,000 per year or equivalent).
  • You are receiving state benefits, such as:
    • Universal Credit
    • Income Support
    • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
    • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
    • Housing Benefit
    • Carer’s Allowance
  • You are experiencing financial hardship, which prevents you from being able to pay for support privately.

4. Motivation & Readiness

We welcome applications from people who are:

  • Ready to engage with learning and wellbeing activities
  • Able to attend scheduled appointments, whether online or in-person
  • Committed to improving their mental health, resilience, and quality of life

Documents We Require

To prevent misuse of charity funds and ensure fairness, all applicants must provide photocopies or clear digital scans of documents supporting their application. These may include:

Proof of Identity

  • Passport
  • Driving licence
  • Biometric residence permit

Proof of Address

(issued within the last 3 months)

  • Utility bill
  • Council tax statement
  • Bank statement

Proof of Financial Eligibility

  • Universal Credit (full award letter)
  • ESA / PIP / Income Support award letter
  • Wage slips (last 3 months)
  • HMRC documents confirming income
  • Letter from Jobcentre Plus
  • Evidence of financial hardship, if applicable

All documents will be handled securely and in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.

  • Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee immediate approval, as fully-funded support is limited and dependent on available charity resources.
  • All information provided will be reviewed confidentially by the Triangle Foundation.
  • We may request additional information if needed to confirm eligibility.
